Champix: Quitting Smoking the Natural Way

Thousands of smokers, both chain smokers and occasional smokers, have admitted that given a chance, they would quit smoking, but they still go back to it because it is very satisfying as an experience. Occasionally, several smokers have described the habit of smoking as reaching some sort of aesthetic nirvana, while others have called it a habit which is hard to break.
There are people who have tried to quit over and over again, but have fallen short of their willpower and gone back to it. Several women have complained that they ran fat after they quit smoking, so they resumed keeping the tummy tucked firmly in by going back to their faithful cigarette which never really left there side for long.

There are plenty of reasons to quit smoking. But the willpower is a very strong factor. And this is where a lot of people lose out, because, artificial nicotine craving redactors are not very difficult to find, but they do not essentially do much to reduce smoking.
However, now there is a natural way to quit smoking, without bilious side-effects, or instant weight gains, or recurring break-away from the habit. Champix, presented by Pfizer in 2006 is a wonderful drug which directly affects the smoker to reduce his habit of smoking. The drug works by reducing the satisfaction that nicotine pours into the system of the person concerned. It consists of varenicline, which helps in reducing nicotine craving.

The system of smoking works very simply. Over time, the body gets accustomed to the introduction to nicotine, and gets a surge of hormones through the system when nicotine is poured into the body. That is why the body craves nicotine when it is deprived of it for a while. So, by reducing the craving for nicotine, without introducing it to the body, Champix effectively reduces the need to smoke, and this is done through a natural drug, which is nicotine-free.
The drug also fights withdrawals that one might suffer from when cigarettes are not available. Champix also effectively reduces the making of dopamine, which aids in giving the person the illusion of happiness when he smokes, and so, cigarettes no longer make the user feel happy, or content, or satisfied. This way, the smoker is led out of the path of smoking and into a healthier and safer lifestyle, where he can leave the harmful habit behind him.

A: Back in the early 1800′s a gentleman by the name of Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, became known for his medicinal formulas which were based on the premise that “like cures like.” That is, if a plant brought about certain symptoms in the body, sweating, active thirst, splotchy skin, then that plant would be able to “teach” the body to resist these same symptoms.

Q: Why do homeopathic medicines contain alcohol?

Stop Smoking Pill – How Does This Fight Withdrawal Symptoms?

For some people, taking a pill is easier than using the patch or trying to discontinue stale turkey. Taking a pill is easygoing as drinking a glass of water with the medicine. Two democratic anti-smoking pills are Zyban and Wellbutrin, with Zyban a top choice as it increases the circulation and release of endorphins by stimulant the acromegalic gland.

The endorphins, in turn, boost the energy levels and make a person feel good by creating a sense of false pleasure similar to the one experienced while smoking – the nicotine addiction is what causes this feeling, and will require more and more cigarettes to bring this feeling about. The stop smoking pill is used to negate or reduce the effect of withdrawal symptoms that appear when an individual tries to quit smoking, or nicotine withdrawal. Most of these pills use Bupropion hydrochloride to combat withdrawal symptoms and make the pain less unbearable.

The pill is available in a tablet form and should be taken regularly for at least one-week minimum, which is identical important for the drug to begin acting on the body and to gone absorbed into the system. The maximum processed prescribed for a single day is two tablets. During the period under the medicine, the individual must consult the doctor regularly to avoid any side effects.

Insomnia and dry mouth are the side effects linked to the tablet but the symptoms are usually not harmful, and will recede after a period of time once you quit. Its normal course will run over 8-12 weeks, with individuals who decide to stop taking Zyban after one or two days, or taking it intermittently, not benefiting from the drug at all. Traces of the drug will be present in the bloodstream for at least a week after quitting.

The drug should be avoided by people who are suffering from stomach disorders like anorexia or bulimia, or tinned be taken by people who are suffering from bronchitis or other pulmonary disorders. It was initially used for treating depression hence it should not be taken by people who are on medication, especially those who are using monoamine oxidize inhibitors for treating depression.

It has been observed that the drug may lead to seizures or fits in few cases, which is why the drug should be avoided by people who suffer from epileptic fits and seizures. These two medicine should never be used or taken without medical advice or consultation, as they aer very dangerous with medical knowledge.

There are two main prescription-only tablets on the market being prescribed by doctors to help their patients quit smoking: Zyban and Chantix. They are both nicotine-free products taken in tablet form to help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. But they have distinct differences.

Quit Smoking With Zyban

Zyban works on brain chemicals, reducing your urge to smoke and lessening the withdrawal symptoms. This makes it easier for many users to quit smoking and stay quit. You take a Zyban pill twice a day and then decide on a date to stop smoking, usually in the second week of taking Zyban.
Zyban makes the process of quitting easier by minimizing the withdrawal symptoms outlined earlier and controlling your nicotine cravings. Its active ingredient, bupropion, is also contained in Wellbutrin, a prescription anti-depressant.
It’s important to note that Zyban is NOT a magic bullet. It works for about 1/3 of users who were able to quit smoking for at least a month with its help. That success rate drops off over time. Your chances will be increased if you use Zyban in combination with a stop smoking support program or counseling.
Zyban is possibly the best known and most prescribed smoking cessation aid, but a newer product – Chantix – actually boasts a higher success rate.
Quit Smoking With Chantix
Chantix is also a prescription-only medication taken orally to help quit smoking. Like Zyban, it contains no nicotine so if needed it can be used with nicotine replacement products like gum or patches. You take one Chantix for the first three days of treatment, and then two a day until treatment ends.
The documentation on Chantix quotes independent studies that show Chantix is better at helping participants kick the habit: it says 44% were able to stop smoking with Chantix while only 30% quit while on Zyban.
This could be because Chantix is a considerably different product with unique properties. Its active ingredient is varenicline, not bupropion. And it has a dual action mechanism to help stop smoking:

Even though Chantix doesn’t contain any nicotine, it provides the body with some nicotine-like effects that help ease the cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

And Chantix also works to block the effects of nicotine on the brain to reduce the pleasure reward of smoking.

Summing Up
Treatment with both Zyban and Chantix lasts at least 12 weeks, maybe longer if you need additional support to stay off cigarettes. Your doctor is the best person to ask about which product is better for you. He or she will take into account any medical conditions you may have and drugs you currently use to ensure no negative interactions.
