Herbal supplements are being used for every problem a person could think of, and there are several great herbs that can aid in quitting smoking. Quitting smoking can be very difficult and close to impossible for many. Most people try several times before they actually succeed in quitting. Perhaps, this is because they are not going about it in the right way. Nicotine gums and patches are expensive and really just keep injecting the thing you are trying to quit into your body anyway. With herbal supplements, you can replace the cravings and anxiety, and help your lungs to repair themselves more quickly.

The lobelia plant is called a super herb because it has many benefits when introduced into one’s daily regimen. This plant is significant to those quitting in that it mimics the effects that nicotine has on the brain without addiction. This helps to curb cravings and anxiety. Another benefit that helps smokers is that it helps to loosen up the congestion and tar that has built up over the years. This can help soothe smokers cough and get the lungs back to functioning at optimal levels faster. Who doesn’t want pretty pink lungs?

Passionflower and chamomile are also helpful when quitting smoking. These herbs have been used to reduce and soothe anxiety for years. Anxiety is quite often the reason that most people fail when they are trying to quit. So this time, when something starts to make you anxious and you want to smoke, try a cup of passionflower or chamomile tea. If you can’t get away for a cup of tea, try a tincture or an herb-infused toothpick to get the same effect.

One more herb that ought to be mentioned is coltsfoot. This herb, like lobelia, helps to loosen congestion. But in addition to loosening up the tar and other crud that has deposited in your lungs, coltsfoot has the added benefit of helping to repair the lung tissue that has been scorched from years of smoking.

So, next time gums and patches and electronic cigarettes just don’t seem to be enough, consult your physician about the use of these herbal supplements to help you quit. Not only are they inexpensive and easily obtained online or at your local health food stores, but they are often much more gentle than other options and may just turn out to be the one thing missing from your plan to quit smoking.

West Palm Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) December 08, 2011

Lose 15 pounds; stop smoking; be a better father; change the world. All are great New Year?s resolutions, but what about money? Chances are that it falls somewhere on the list, according to author Mike Mann.

With the book ?Make Millions & Make Change! Secrets to Business and Personal Success,? increasing your income may get a little easier, author Mike Mann said.

Mann, the CEO of about 10 e-commerce corporations, said he wrote the book to delineate strategies he has proven in his personal entrepreneurial endeavors, explaining how to reach the next level in personal and business growth.

The book focuses on high-growth, small-business theory with a specific emphasis on modern technologies and marketing.

?Those two areas are often neglected in business schools,? Mann said. ?But they?re absolutely crucial to building a strong small business.?

In an economy that has been struggling since 2008, small business owners have used his book as a guide to transform their company from startups on a shoestring to veritable powerhouses in their respective industries, according to Mann.

Mann said the title of the book sometimes makes it seem like a get-rich-quick scheme, but his readers have said quite the opposite.

?This is no get-rich scheme; it?s a no nonsense guide for moral people to succeed at what they love and help others while they do it,” said Serene Terra, a small business owner who read the book. ?I was pleasantly surprised at how well this book addressed my personal goal, which is to develop a business that supports me while I support my community.?

Written in clear language, ?Make Millions & Make Change!? delineates well-established and proprietary business concepts, offering small business owners ideas that will empower them to become successful.

Mann explained that once people have made money, they then have the opportunity to give back to the world by engaging in the charitable causes that mean the most to them.

After receiving accolades for ?Make Millions & Make Change!? Mann decided to write a second book called ?Applied Evolution! Understanding Humans for a Better World,? which focuses more on the power and responsibility each person has to make the world better.

Mann is releasing the book online as he writes it, much like Charles Dickens? ?A Tale of Two Cities? ? one chapter at a time. For the time being, ?Applied Evolution! Understanding Humans for a Better World? is available at http://www.appliedevolution.com, but Mann said he will release the book in print as soon as it is finished.

?By addressing unacceptable human behaviors like fear, greed and envy, ?Applied Evolution? lays out the path to world peace and prosperity,? Mann?s website said.

Following ?Applied Evolution,? Mann will finish the three-book series with ?Fixing Government! Save Trillions and Save the World,? addressing how citizens can change government to improve their quality of life.

All of a sudden, those New Year?s resolutions don?t seem so far-fetched.

###

Smoking is such an awful habit and such a strong addiction, but there are organizations out there that provide stop smoking help and ongoing tips to quit smoking. These organizations are usually government sponsored and can be found in many countries around the world.

In the UK for example there is a national service that provides stop smoking help.

The NHS Stop Smoking Services, which was established in 1999 across the UK, provides support for motivated smokers who wish to quit.

The services clients are offered include pharmacotherapy and behavioral therapy in a group or individual setting.

More than half of these clients are able to stop smoking for at least four weeks and around 15% do so for at least a year.

Unfortunately these figures suggest, quitters’ rates of relapse back to smoking are high, with around 75% of those abstinent at 4 weeks after their quit date, re-starting smoking within the year.

The primary reason smokers in this stop smoking help program start smoking again is that they run out of medication.

Once in the program and after some measure of success, the extended use of anti smoking drugs is preferred over the use of proactive telephone counseling, in order to prevent a relapse.

The use of proactive telephone counseling is not favored because it is often seen as intrusive by the participant.

For those smokers who have been able to quit, the use of ‘diversion therapy’ as a relapse prevention intervention for abstinent smokers can provide some success. This therapy is aimed at engaging former smokers in activities designed to take their minds off smoking and provide them with feelings of well-being and importance. Activities may involve the use of a leisure center or getting involved with community services.

For those smokers who have been able to quit, yet have the urge to start up again, or those smokers who have had one or two relapses, the preferred method of getting back on the rails was by way of behavioral counseling.

This counseling is usually provided on an individual or group basis and these smokers receive stop smoking help to identify situations and triggers that might lead to smoking lapses. They are then taught strategies to help overcome the associated urge for a cigarette and steps that can be taken to prevent future relapses.

Often a relapse is a spontaneous, unplanned thought process or phenomenon which is triggered by external factors such as holidays, bereavement and unexpected personal or financial difficulties. The counseling program helps provide strategies to deal with these situations.

For those smokers who have quit but have had a relapse, there is often an open door policy of returning to the support group services at any time. As a last resort, to reenter the stop smoking help program from the beginning again as a new case is always an option. Unfortunately for the individual that does this, it can often create of feeling of embarrassment or failure, which is just another barrier that needs to be overcome.

The illnesses of smokers, cost both the smoker and the government so much money that many sources of stop smoking help are now available. Usually the government supports hospitals to treat the many illnesses that smokers develop, so it is the government who has teamed up with those in the medical services to provide preventative measures.

Preventative measures are much less expensive than caring for patients after they are afflicted by problems caused by smoking, hence the need for the stop smoking help programs.

Quitting smoking can be one of the best decisions a person can make. There are several options on the market today to help, but one that people rarely consider is the use of natural herbs to curb cravings and the anxiety that comes with quitting. As well as helping ease the withdrawals of quitting nicotine, there are also several herbs that can aid in the body’s recovery from the ravages that smoking takes on it. Let’s take a look at some of the more useful herbs that one can put to use to make quitting cigarettes as easy as is possible.

One of the biggest problems quitters run into is having high anxiety levels when they stop smoking and no way to ease the tension. How many times have you tried to quit, and given up because you had a bad day. Passion flower extract and chamomile are two great examples of herbs that are known to take the edge off.

Of course, a cup of tea isn’t always convenient. Tinctures and even herb-infused toothpicks serve as great substitutes for the traditional drink.

The lobelia plant, a well-known super herb is said to mimic the effect nicotine has on the brain, and is not addictive. This makes the herb very important in an herbal regimen with this cause in mind. This can keep the mind thinking it has it’s nicotine, and will ease cravings and anxiety. As well, the lobelia plant helps aid in removal of congestion in the lungs that may have built up over the years, and soothe coughing, which will make any smoker a bit more happy.

Another herbal supplement that can be useful when quitting is coltsfoot extract. Much like lobelia, the plant serves several functions that help repair the damage of smoking.

Coltsfoot loosens up congestion and soothes coughing, and also helps repair damaged lung tissue.

As you can see, there are several natural herbal supplements that someone who is quitting smoking can use. And unlike the patches and gums, these remedies are very inexpensive and quite easy to obtain. Of course, one should always consult a physician before taking any supplement. With these herbs, used alone or in conjunction, the seemingly impossible dream of quitting smoking may finally come true.

More than ever, quitting smoking help can be found easily. But many people still don’t know where to turn for help on how to quit the cigarettes crave. There are plenty of places to educate yourself and find information on different methods for quitting the cigarette crave.

There are also many places where quitting smoking help will provide you with support during the phase of becoming a non-smoker. Here are some ideas to help you get started on a healthier future.

Quitting smoking help starts by helping yourself understand why cigarettes and smoking are bad for you. Being informed is one of the best ways to motivate yourself to quit smoking.

By doing an Internet search on -chemicals in cigarettes- you can find many websites that will list over 500 chemical products contained in one cigarette alone, as well as each of those chemicals’ effects on your mind and body.

Finding how to stop smoking forums is another area for quitting smoking help. These forums are places where all sorts of people post comments, advice and hints on kicking the habit. You’ll find other people just like you who are going through the quitting phase too. You’ll also find individuals who have already quit the cigarette crave and are there to provide you with their help and advice.

You can find a wide array of websites and internet resources that offer smoking help for smokers. From a help stop smoking forum, to a plethora of articles about smoking — the internet can be an ideal place to get information about it. Health professionals and experts normally manage these reputable websites, so you can be comfortable knowing they have the most accurate information.

Your doctor or health practitioner should be one person you can count on for quitting smoking help. Doctors are well-versed in the various medical problems surrounding this and they can provide you with all the available options for quitting. They’ll also tell you which method of treatment they think is best for you in particular, as well as monitor your progress and health after you quit smoking.

Quitting smoking help also comes in the form of your own friends, family, and coworkers. Telling everyone about your plans to stop the cigarette crave can open up plenty of conversations from others who understand what you’re contemplating. Their experiences and advice can be a valuable resource during the times you find the most difficult.

Another person trying to quit the cigarette crave is an ideal addition to your quitting smoking help arsenal. Instead of trying to do it yourself, a friend or buddy that you can talk to when you have cravings or want to start smoking again can be a great resource, as you encourage each other to quit smoking.

You can even add another healthy aspect to the process by taking a walk each day, instead of having a cigarette.

You can stop smoking! Welcome back to your detailed quit smoking plan, and congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. If you are seeing the second part of this series without having seen the first, you may want to find it.

Since you were able to excrete most of the nicotine in your body already, your physical craving is significantly less severe than it would have been if you had smoked right before having gone to bed. Your actual ‘habit’ of smoking in the morning, though, is another story. You may find yourself reaching for cigarettes automatically only to remember that this is the first day of the rest of your life not smoking!

: Lethargy is a common symptom when you first quit smoking. Feel free to stay in bed! If you really have nothing to do, you’re just begging for self destructive idle time, anyway. You have the right to baby yourself when you’re sick, and to stop smoking is to deal with a life threatening illness from which you owe it to yourself to claim your freedom! If it’s within your power in the first 24-48 hours, take time to recover!

: In your process of telling your co-workers of your plans to quit smoking you will have been able to identify the non-smokers who are encouraging you to stop smoking for good. Find them at breaks and lunch, and adopt their non-smoking habits. When break time comes, keep your affirmations strong by changing – yet still acknowledging – the proclamation your desire to have a cigarette. Say out loud, “I am having a temporary craving that will pass;” or something along those lines…Never, “I want a cigarette,” or “I need to smoke,” or any other self defeating affirmation.

Your stress level (obviously) is likely to be high on your first day after you stop smoking, so try to be extra mindful of the way you interact with those around you.

Around the hour you quit on the previous day, you can expect the corresponding time frame to deliver you a serious rush of anxiety and tension. This could only last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, but the most likely scenario is that it may continue for a couple days. You do not have to smoke. Taking measures with a natural stop smoking treatment, or another smoking cessation aid will help make these symptoms much less severe.

If you smoke at this critical juncture, you could lose all willingness to even try to quit smoking for weeks, months, or even years! The disease of nicotine is cunning, baffling, and powerful; and it will go to great lengths to prevent you from giving up tobacco. If you’ve made it this far, hold on; because it WILL get easier.

          ]]>

During your normal every day actions during which you used to smoke like drinking, talking on the telephone, or flipping through channels with the remote; start using your ex-smoking hand for these activities so it’s not sitting there doing nothing while your other hand is completing all the work. This may sound insignificant, but it’s actually a quite effective tool in the battle against smoking addiction.

Argh! (No, seriously) You are all but guaranteed to be going crazy with fiend for a cigarette. While the actual cravings don’t last long, your nerves are going through a restoration process that is a natural part of nicotine withdrawals; which means that – even when you’re not wanting to smoke necessarily – you are just in a state of discontentment and aggravation because of the discomfort and shortness of temper caused by the depletion of dopamine, endorphins and other naturally produced chemicals that smoking took over for your body.

Your brain, nerves, lungs, and every other organ in your body that was affected by smoking (there are many) are all learning – just as you are – to adjust to life without cigarettes. They will heal, but the process is not comfortable. Do not let it be your reason to give in. You can stop smoking!

Generally, the feelings of anxiety are still somewhat strong, and they may or may not be starting to disappear. Hopefully, you are still carrying around your list of your reasons not to smoke to which you need to refer every time you are thinking about lending the power back to your nicotine addiction. You are at the most stressful part of your journey, and everything will start to get easier from here, so stay strong and don’t give up!

Finally, things are starting to return to normal. Your body will begin to regulate its production of vital mood stabilizing chemicals that it once produced all on its own before nicotine interrupted the process, and your coping abilities should be starting to bear a more civilized nature. Your appetite will be out of control. Allow yourself to indulge, but don’t go overboard and remember about the healthful snacking!

Personally, this day for me has historically been rough. It’s a type of comfort zone in which you are in grave danger of relapse. Do not mosey on over to a smoking co-worker or make a sly plan in the morning to meet up with a friend who smokes for lunch or another affair, either! Again…Cunning, baffling, and powerful! Don’t let your disease fool you!

Hopefully, at this point of the game you are adjusting nicely to life without cigarettes. Your senses have possibly returned to a degree you hadn’t even realized was possible; and your lungs are definitely feeling better. Your cough, however, may have been getting increasingly worse at this point. That’s normal, and it could last for the next few weeks. You may be able to minimize the side effects with a homeopathic stop smoking treatment.

Congratulations! This is a huge milestone in your journey! Today is the day that your brain finishes the process of creating new habits! Everything you do will get easier and easier from here on out! You’re not out of the woods, yet, though, because your disease is still at work trying to convince you to start smoking again. Be aware of its attempts throughout the day to convince you that you can have just one cigarette or even one drag…You can’t!

Even if you are able to stop with one drag or one smoke the first time, that will give you permission for the next time; then that will give you permission to smoke again until you’ve increased your level of smoking to that which is just a bit more cigarettes in a day than you were smoking before you quit. Some of the tricks your smoking addiction will try to play on you include:

Going to the smoking section at work

Making plans with a friend or family member who smokes

Engaging in behaviors that are conducive to smoking (going to bars, drinking excessively, etc.)

Encouraging you to stop a complete stranger you see smoking outside as you’re leaving the supermarket or eating establishment to ask for a cigarette.

Stay vigilant in your guard against your disease, and start enjoying life without smoking. You will quickly realize how much money you’re saving. Many smokers like to reward themselves with a teeth whitening kit or a special shopping spree with the money they are no longer spending on cigarettes. You deserve it! You’ve accomplished something very difficult that will undoubtedly add years onto your life.

Remember that your nicotine addiction is a powerful disease that is always at work. It is in the back of your mind strength training and getting stronger behind your back. Stay aware of the dangers that await you around every corner. You are only one drag away from a relapse that could claim your life. You CAN quit smoking! Make the decision to stop smoking today!

Are you aware that 72% of people who smoke have tried to quit and are unable to do so? The reason is simple: it is not only nicotine that we are addicted to, it is also the act of smoking itself and the feelings it gives us as we inhale. Just taking a moment for yourself to relax, light up and have a smoke, is often impossible to live without. This is because doctors and researchers have found that a large part of addiction is based on the physical action of smoking. It is not nicotine alone that a smoker craves, it is also the the actions and associations we have with the moment of relaxation. Nicotine gum does not deliver these sensations and that is why it does not work as well as smokeless cigarettes as a smoking alternative. Finally, electronic cigarettes have arrived to give smokers a very satisfying and much safer smoking alternative.

Electronic cigarettes are adjustable, delivering small or large amounts of nicotine, depending on what you need. You can change the level and amount in each smoke. It is possible to use this method to wean yourself off nicotine, leaving only the safe realistic vapour and sensation of the smokeless cigarette. The harmful effects of smoking (other than small doses of nicotine) can be entirely eliminated. You protect yourself from inhaling 599 toxic additives that tobacco companies add to regular cigarettes. The list of toxic additives has been kept a secret as big tobacco feared it would scare the pubic, with good reason! Big Tobacco Companies were finally forced to reveal this information to the department of health and human services in 1994 and the results were chilling. The list included not only 599 additives. When these substances combusted they produced 4000 chemical substances, none of them intended for human inhalation, with 43 confirmed cancer causing substances. In addition to getting rid of these serious health risks, electronic cigarettes can also help you get rid of bad breath, dental problems, risk of mouth cancer, yellow teeth and stained fingers.

Question by x0osarbear: pregnancy / smoking assist.?
ok first off i dont want the standered “think of the baby” and “try carrot sticks”i do think of the baby and ive tried carrot sticks.i am about 8 weeks pregnant and i have cut my smoking from about a pack a day to about 6 a day. my counsler at WIC told me not to quit cold turkey because it could send the baby into shock and kill it.im looking for tips to continue cutting back to the point of not smoking at all.any information would helpi cant use the patch because im alergic to the adhesive. i was also on the “quit smoking pill” and i lost way too much weight because i couldent eat anything and keep it down. those were years ago though.please help!thank you all. your answers help a lot. i auctually have my nieces first baby sneakers and they are small enough to tie to my pack of cigarettes and its already tied.
Answer by Mommy2Be 05-09-08
honestly, as hard as it may be.. you just have to quit. it’s hell… but that hell subsides and you get over it. i smoked about a pack a day for 7 years. the day i found out i was pregnant, i took 2 puffs, threw out the cigarette.. and never picked up another one again. yeah i was miserable, but honestly the whole SIDS thing scared me. your baby has an extremely higher risk of dying due to sids if you smoke.trust me it sucks… and even like the first month u may want one. but just dont do it.. i couldnt picture the baby in there surrounded by smoke, being deprived of oxygen, being born early with underdeveloped lungs, breathing problems, being hooked up to IVs, dying in his sleep, etc…. just because i couldnt break a habit….email if you want daynacovo@yahoo.com…. i’ll help you cope. if i could get thru it with anxiety and being a drinker before i was pregnant, i can help you too
