I really had no intention of even trying it. I just knew it would not be effective to me personally as an alternative to cigarettes. One reason is that I have just been smoking too long and felt that I would never be able to quit smoking.

Another reason is that I have tried other things to stop smoking such as hypnosis, cold turkey and the patch. I was too addicted to cigarettes for anything to be effective.

That all changed a little over nine weeks ago (as of this writing). I have found an alternative to smoking that actually has allowed me to stop using tobacco altogether. In fact, as a testament, I still have a pack containing six cigarettes sitting in my drawer. It has been there for the entire nine weeks.

Here is a major caveat to those who wish to duplicate my success using the “ecigarette”. They are not all the same, and the effectiveness may differ greatly from one brand or model to the next.

My experience began with a generic brand of e cigarette that I had purchased In a convenience store. It was the type that has a general appearance like a regular tobacco cigarette with a longer white piece that makes up the battery and a cartridge that is pre-filled with nicotine “e-juice” which is the color of a cigarette filter. The problem is that I tried one of these for about 3 weeks and it did nothing to stop my craving for cigarettes. So I gave up.

Then a few days after giving up, I received a call from a friend who had heard a radio commercial about a particular brand of ecig. The radio commercial promised an offer where you only pay for shipping and handling and you receive your first ecig. And then of course they bill your credit card every month automatically for further supplies. I told him to hold off making that purchase decision until I checked them out.

I found a forum online that dealt with electronic cigarettes and began researching. I discovered that many other people had similar disappointing results with the cheaper quality convenience store brand of ecigs and also I read of many warnings about dealing with the companies that send your first one out for shipping and handling only.
